Advancement Notes

Our next advancement night is Monday, 10/24. For Scouts to advance, requirements and skills reviews must be completed by 10/17.

If you are ready for advancement or have questions about your status, please contact Mrs. Sullivan at

advancement.troop1011@gmail.com

We’ll work with Mrs. Bailey to get your skills review scheduled.

Camporall

Camporall is an annual event that provides an opportunity for AOL cub scouts to camp with a Troop while participating in a weekend of scheduled activities. We have extended invitations to several different packs to join us. Additionally, we are going to use the time to provide you opportunities to work on rank advancement/merit badges. The event is at Woodruff which is a great well established scout reservation providing plenty of room for us to knock out requirements. We will need cooks, scouts to work on skits with AOLs, there is a one mile compass course, opportunities to teach younger scouts using EDGE….. Go through your handbook or scoutbook on line to see if you are missing anything or want to get ahead. This applies to rank and merit badges. I can’t guarantee we can support everything but we will work hard to meet as many of the asks as we can.

Parents we will need drivers and adult leadership on site for the weekend to satisfy Youth Protection Guidelines. Its an easy campout with established campsites and permanent latrine structures (no dark, spider invested porta johns – almost like staying at the Ritz)

Patrol leaders and ASMs – if there is something that your patrol wants to complete as a team add it to the list.

Black Rock Mtn Camping Trip
4 Nov – 6 Nov

Be sure to sign up for our annual trip to Black Rock Mountain. We will leave no later than 5:30 pm on Friday and return around 1:00 pm in Sunday.

Adults — we need help transporting scouts and managing some of the events. It’s a great weekend to hang out, and yes — we can get the UGA/TN game there.

Conservation Weekend
11 Nov – 13 Nov : Woodruff Scout Reservation

Conservation Weekend offers the opportunity to earn up to 3 merit badges over the course of less than two full days. Plus, you’ll get the opportunity to camp in the crisp autumn air in North Georgia with you troop. Meals are provided at the camp — so you don’t have to cook.

Eagle Merit badge for Sustainability or Environmental Science is available.

This event includes a conservation-themed workshop with games and information on how to create, execute and document a conservation project.

Mr. Lancaster is leading this weekend activity.

Service Project – Collecting Old towels

Troop 1011 will be collecting old towels and donating them to Pet Shelters around East Cobb. We will begin collecting them every Monday night at the 1011 Scout Hut from September 3rd to October 3rd. A collection box will be located inside the 1011 Scout Hut.

If you are interested in earning service hours for old towel collections, you can talk to Mr. Flowers about doing a large collection around your neighborhood.

If you have any questions please email me or ask at the next meeting.

Volunteers

Parents – Troop 1011 family needs you!

Troop 1011 has more than 80 scouts working on merit badges, learning skills, and giving of their time in community service projects. The logistics of transportation, communication, fundraising, accounting, and records management are essential to ensuring opportunities and fun are available to help your scout advance. We need your help to make our Troop as efficient and responsive as possible. Please follow this link to show your interest/availability to help us help your scout!

In addition to drivers and general help at meetings, we have an immediate need for:

Records manager – to input scout achievements/attendance into Scoutbook
Logistics manager – to help plan camping trips
Advancement assistant – to help our Advancement chair with coordinating parents for boards of review and keeping the advancement records for our scouts
Events – we need help with sorting badges, organizing courts of honor
Communications – help us keep the scouts, parents and community aware of our activities
Finance – help us keep our books current and scout accounts up-to-date

Email me at jf.troop1011@gmail.com if interested.
